Hinkong Beach & the Sand Bank
Hinkong Beach on Koh Phangan is known for its dramatic sand bank that appears and disappears with the tide. At low tide you can walk hundreds of metres out to sea on exposed sand. At high tide the same area is perfect for swimming.
Koh Phangan experiences diurnal tides — typically one major cycle per day rather than two. Full and new moons bring the most extreme swings. Use the chart above to plan when the sand bank will be out.
